Description

A one-man game development team with the goal to create games perserving the style and sensibilities of the classics but with a modern face. Ultimately to benefit charitable causes.

History

Beginnings

Mind Relay is the brainchild of me, Jay. It was formally formed on August 12th 2014, coinciding with the end of my PhD in Artificial Intelligence. Artificial Intelligene and Robotics research is my day job, but Mind Relay serves as a vehicle for me to express my love of game design and development. Mind Relay is a registered Social Enterprise in the United Kingdom -- a Community Interest Company (Incorporation #09306904) -- which is a special kind of business model meaning 100% of the money the company makes goes to support charitable causes. As far as I am aware, this is the first time the Community Interest Company business model has been applied to video game development. My ultimate goal is to produce video games that stand alone as being solid and fun, and it is of the utmost importance to me that my games are judged fairly on their own merits.

Tiny Robot Justice Squad

Tiny Robot Justice Squad is the first project to be developed under Mind Relay. The game is a 2D side-scrolling, platforming arena shooter taking great inspiration from classic SNES-era games such as SmashTV, Super Turrican and Contra, along with more modern stuff like Risk of Rain and Gun Monkeys.
